Thomas Gaddis, 2021 by Elvis Piedra

Bio

Looking to further his ability to better serve and support the emerging designer community, Thomas co-founded Factory 404 in August 2016. He is a graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design in Fashion/Apparel Design, having a BFA and an MFA in Fashion Design.

Early on in his career, Thomas developed a passion for product development and textiles. During his junior year at Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, Georgia, Thomas started interning at Maria Harper Designs where he worked on a myriad of privately commissioned pieces for entertainers and starlets. It was there that he honed his technical skills for fit and eye for design.

While working under nearly impossible deadlines and insurmountable pressure, Thomas became prepared for a career in apparel manufacturing. Eventually, through various freelancing projects, Thomas began developing patterns, sewing samples, and sourcing textiles – he found his niche.

Over the next two years, Thomas would further his design skills while working as Fashion Production Assistant for YSS Athletics. He brought to the table his product development knowledge and ability to effectively communicate design ideas into actual products.

Thomas then joined Factory Girls in October of 2014 as Production Manager and became a partner in March 2016.

A gifted communicator and avid learner of all things fashion, Thomas also provides industry training in apparel construction. He currently teaches technical design and fashion design with Factory 404 and has served as an instructor for Le Fashion Lab, Factory Girls and Savannah College of Art and Design Community Education and Art Smarts programs.
